TRAMS and BRIDGES and Such Things

My new header is a fountain in Irvine Center where we used to shop when living in Southern California (own photo)

WEEKLY BLURB: As in my previous posts of the Open Air Museum in the Netherlands, close to Arnhem, near the German border. Not only buildings and living conditions of the previous centuries, but also things to eat back then – such as candy, pastries, breads, next to today’s fast-food. Also, games, and skills like weaving, black smith, farming, wood logging, etc. A great way for kids to learn about history.

THE GOOD: & Sky Watch, Pink Sat. & Good Fences). Draw bridge. Since Holland was originally 3/4 or more water, you see  many canals and bridges. Front gables of the roofs  17th-18th century. Look up  on Google “Zaanse Schans” if you like to see more of this area

IMAGINE THAT

Coffe & CleanBrushes_3270

My daily life in the kitchen. For some this may be an odd combination, but for me, it’s a common sight:) I imagine other worlds with my brushes. Can be messy, so after I’m done, I need clean brushes – to the point where the brush is falling off the handle (on the right) because the wood is so wet:) In my living room, the lipstick plant (below) draws all the attention!

My point was to capture the gold top of the tower in Jackson, CA … oops …
But oh, a barn door for Thursday to the rescue!

howto2 unwrapPresent_4409

Warm Heart: it’s long after December has gone, but don’t want to wait till the end of the year with this , because it’s priceless!
Three of my grands came on Christmas day afternoon with their parents, proudly dressed up in snow gear, because the day before snow had just fallen. The bag was too tight to get the present ( blanket) out.  Opa (Grandpa) had a great solution how to unwrap a present Just keep pulling, Peach!

FIRST RAIN IN FALL

Between Los Angeles and Sacramento several farmers were not able to grow their crops this year because of the drought – a sad sight, driving by their empty land … they need a solution – Urgently!

Monday the temps in Southern Cal. Dropped significantly, and at night when going home
to the hotel the first rain drops splattered on our car window.

Was gone for a week to participate in an art show in Laguna Niguel (Southern California) –
great for new connections! All I had with me was an old IPad that was a major frustration
because I was not able to link or comment on your blogs. Nor was I able to load up pics,
luckily had access to my media file and retrieved this from Fall last year.

UP TO THE FOURTH OF JULY

Flag_0292

THE GOOD: From the bottom of my heart I hope that the freedom this country used to have
will be regained and it once more will be the land of the free and the brave

WEEKLY BLURB: my personal opinion!
Being a Dutchman I have lived here for about 30 years, (plus 4 years earlier during studies) and for the first time I have fleeting thoughts of wanting to go back. Being a researcher, it is frustrating to discover since this president has been in office, the USA has become divided, and many things have been put in place that are so un-American, I am baffled.
Yet, it is the way things have been put in place is what disturbs me most. A president who consistently lies about his own life and keeps going against the constitution, weakens the army, and divides the people. You do not know what goes on here if you live outside the USA!!

BookLoftDetailSolvang_7454

THE RANDOM: The Big Question is where will we be on the 4th of July?
In Solvang (California), like the past few years? Because ….they have a great small town parade….
a great opportunity to take pics!

OperaCakeCrop_0839
THE FUN: Probably not in San Diego, because of horrendous parking on this day,
but may be in Encinitas, not far from there.  This bakery is out of this world …
a very interesting spice shop behind, where they even have a rock Himalayan salt block
… a huge yarn store, but that will be closed on the 4th …
