SEASONS – SETTLING IN JULY (10-13)

SeasonsSummerFallWidgetBlog2_4269 copy Hello SEASONS bloggers, a summer color of the logo.
Join the fun Sunday July 10 Wednesday July 13 till 7 pm, Pacific time

LOVE all your beautiful photos you link up to SEASONS every week, and all the inventive, witty and thoughtful posts I read between Sunday and Wednesday evening!!
I appreciate the openness with which you allow others
to be a part of your life:)
What I really like is that there is no one-upmanship here, no vying for a first position – it’s fun just to share!

Am still living in the haze of last week’s 4th of July celebrations, On the other hand also mourning for five policemen being killed in Dallas last week.

This week it’s real. My first pic took 4 times, to load up –
next week’s SEASONS will be at http://Artworksfromjeshstg.wordpress.com

Sacramento2Bridge Pillar_2764

Several of you shared your vacation/fourth of July celebrations, so it’s only fair I share some of mine. My first choice  was a small town parade, but we could only find one at 7 pm, right before the fire works.  My sense was that the parade would be a marching band, so we ended up going to Old Town Sacramento. The original swing railroad bridge which had a facelift to accommodate the doubling of the Sacramento population(see Wikipedia)and has these pillars on both sides of the Sacramento river. This version of the bridge is a vertical lift bridge and was opened in 1935. It had a paint job in 2001 in gold to match the capital building nearby.

A future patrol_6644

Old Town is kind of touristy/  You can imagine, with my previous job, I automatically observe people, but often it’s the kids who crack me up. This one looks like he’s going to be a police man, or a mayor. Anyway, he is going to have a VERY IMPORTANT JOB!

Pink Broccoli_7047

The day before, we went to the Farmers market (another people watching place, when I’m not taking pics),
we saw this – is it pink broccoli? Anyone?
This is the color straight out of the camera -no photo edits!

SEASONS -CANT BELIEVE ITS JULY

The title for this SEASONS’s post I borrowed from R. MacWheeler  (see side bar for his newest book) who gave me this comment:):)

SmallSeasons2SpringSunset_4269 copy  Hello Season’s Bloggers  Sunday July 3 – Wednesday July 6 till 7 pm, Pacific time

HAPPY (BELATED) CANADA DAY AND HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!
My new URL (when I run out of space here) : http://artworksfromjeshstg.wordpress.com

On my blog post (Up the Fourth of July -below- you can read more of what many Americans do on a day like that).

Summer started  … Hotter than I expected, because last Wednesday I couldn’t see the Link list of SEASONS (sorry if you were not able to link because my weak internet connection), because there is a big fire (350 acre, already people evacuated)  close enough that it effected our internet connection. This fire is caused by arson.
The second day of this fire the Scoopers (planes that drop fire retardant) could not fly because there were too many drones in the sky – are you kidding? Heard that there is legislation in process to prevent this – because lives and homes can be at stake here!
The fire is why I’m posting this SEASON early, and the Linky list should take care of itself.  The fire is too far away to put us, or our house in danger, so don’t worry if you don’t get a comment back from me right away:)

UP TO JULY 4TH

WEEKLY BLURB: HAPPY 4th of July!

As you also will read in SEASONS – Can’t Believe It’s July
for some, this 4th of July a BIG fire close by (Wed. it was 350 acres) , caused by arson, is stressful. My wish is that someone will do something special for the ones who already have been evacuated, dealing with the danger of losing their home and being uncomfortable not having their daily surroundings.

Waiting for the fire works in San Diego harbor with much ZEAL! That’s one thing many in America will do on July 4th. This year am not exactly sure what we’re going to do, but it will be close to home. It would be great to see a small town July 4th parade or something like that…

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR JULY 4TH WEEKEND?

TREES WATCHING CLOUDS

WEEKLY BLURB: Happy Fathers day on Sunday to all fathers! Is it in some of your countries on another date?

X-treetrunks_1672

Am relieved to have an excuse to post and look at the clouds and trees – since I spent a day trying to figure out if my computer has a template for a manuscript for the novel I’m writing. Feel like it’s  finding the algabraic X-Factor! On the third day …YES    I rather have an X in trees, like here:)

TRAMS and BRIDGES and Such Things

My new header is a fountain in Irvine Center where we used to shop when living in Southern California (own photo)

WEEKLY BLURB: As in my previous posts of the Open Air Museum in the Netherlands, close to Arnhem, near the German border. Not only buildings and living conditions of the previous centuries, but also things to eat back then – such as candy, pastries, breads, next to today’s fast-food. Also, games, and skills like weaving, black smith, farming, wood logging, etc. A great way for kids to learn about history.

STRAIGHT FORWARD

WEEKLY BLURB: Could not believe my ears, while making my lunch that day – I heard and emergency message on my stationary phone: “So-and-so went out of his residence this morning, May 12, description of weight and height.
“He is armed and dangerous. Do not approach him. Just call!” Was this the movies, or what? No wonder people have guns to protect themselves. There’s plenty of space here in the mountains to hide!

DREAMS and MAKE BELIEVE

TO COMMENT: Click on the Title of this post, Scroll and the comment box will appear on the bottom of this post

BeforeTreeBackground_6032                 THE BEFORE PIC:

this tree watched everything going on for the past 15 months with that large bare patch of red soil, because
Once upon a time I had a dream (a wish) that I would live in an abandoned building as big as a factory

Got Heights_6251

After years, I had forgotten the dream (wish), because life got in the way and seemed to go another path.
Had already accomplished so much beyond what I thought I would reach in life, that it seemed a little over the top to wish for more. When you’re at a height like this! One wrong move, and …. I think my fear was getting stuck 16 feet in the air!

Fri Hunt: Starts with T: Trees
Weeks Favorite: irises
Evening: Sunset capture

BuildAfter_6336   THE AFTER PIC with one small entrance door...
In that dream (wish)  I would paint during the day, and at night I would sleep, surrounded by my paintings. The details are a little different, but I suddenly I remembered that dream and it had become true at the end of April. It’s actually beyond my dreams, because it’s a NEW building, especially built for this purpose!

Irises_1313

BigDoorCropBarn_6320

A big 16 foot high  Strong roll up door -so large paintings can go through it – kind of main stream residential neighborhood door.
We waited a month for this door. Then it didn’t come with the rest of the materials while building. Then, it arrived damaged. In building you need to be super patient!
One of the reasons we moved to the country side. This barn/studio is a hefty sacrifice. Risk in life is worth taking it.

deer sideways

The deer in the neighborhood take it nonchalantly that the studio has been added.  They watched, but nothing changed for them:) Saw this boy coming by yesterday on his afternoon walk.

MAKE BELIEVE – Saw this in the side bar of MissBeth who has linked to SEASONS before. So cool:) This was generated by my name Jesh StG – Have to say I would never have come up with this name. I also didn’t know there were male fairies!! So, anyone, go ahead and see,  what fairy name you come up with.

Get your own fairy name from the fairy name generator!

Your fairy name is Fruitpip Reedglimmer

She plays reed pipes and sings spellbinding songs.
She lives in stony places and tumbling wastes.
She can only be seen when the sun sets on the day of a completed harvest.
She wears a heather-coloured dress and has deep green butterfly wings.

PUT YOUR SAILS UP

From the different kinds of paintings you have seen from me (also in Art Notes, click top right) , this is the style that represents me most.  Nearly abstract, but still impressionistic – and an apparent unfinished look. All the pics in this post were taken in the Netherlands except for the birdie.

TO COMMENT: click on the title of THIS post, scroll down to the comment form on the bottom of this post.

PaintPut up Your SailHeerhugowaard

THE GOOD:
(1) Putting Your Sail Up, 24 x 30 inch, © St Germain
A few years ago I had 3 workshops and 3 art shows in Holland. The workshops were in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, and Heerhugowaard (N. of Amsterdam). For each I painted something that would encourage to bring them to the next level. In this very artsy town H., an amazingly talented group of people at my workshop, it came to me that several had the greatest tools, but were drifting without goals. My message to them was, put your sails up – you may have an expensive boat and the newest gadgets, but you go in circles when you have no goals to pursue.

THE RANDOM
(2) Across from where we were drinking coffee. This is one of my après -expresso shots.  Art – are you in or out?
I would say “RAD” – but that word may already be “out” –  but I don’t like “wicked!”

LittleSmile0754

THE FUN
(3) Each workshop was well attended, and so different. In Amsterdam the teens and twenties, here in Rotterdam between 30 and 50ties (this table is in the “what am I gonna paint ” stage), in Heerhugowaard from five to fifty plus.
The older, the more they had to overcome to just let go, unless they were artists -there were a few – the latter weren’t doing necessarily better, because of the subject).

Warm Heart: Some smiles here!  It’s the older men who participated who made me smile especially, because I know it takes them more courage to even show up! It helped doing the workshops in Dutch (I practiced hard before!!)
