WHERE IS THE SUN AND THE BEACH?

After a few weeks, now growing into a few months, we have the wood stove burning with the Dutch antique kettle on. The latter to bring more moisture in the air. Has rained quite a bit last few days, and everywhere around streams of water have appeared at low points between the hills – so pretty and fresh green!

Everyone in this area on the mountains has a wood stove, added to central heat
I miss the sun. I know – no stamina:)

For Friday Hunt: this photo is a sneak preview of next week’s post (Jan. 29)

We had rain – that means snow in higher elevations. No Snowmageddon, although a new pack of snow last weekend. The only time when it’s trafficky in the weekend when  lines and lines of dirty cars with ski’s and snow boards came back 20 min. from higher up the mountain on Sunday Evening .

THE GOOD:

Enjoying outside dining and the texture of these outside dining chairs

and the cheerful White Camellia (Below)

Warm Heart:
One tire of our Mercedes/Dodge work truck Sprinter was (way too early)  at the point of exploding, so hubby needed to buy 2 new tires. Businesses here do everything to keep their customers. When he went to Michelin to buy them, they gave his extra $$ off, by waiting for their truck to transport the exploding tire to be researched by the main store, instead of just sending it:):)

THE FUN: This tiny bird with long sharp beak (forgot the name) caught on Southern California beach

  1. The chairs are wonderful and I just love the white Camellia, my favorite flower this time of year. The stove with the Dutch kettle looks cosy.

    Have a nice Sunday!

  2. Enjoyed the flow and the cool, ornate house leading into the bird was a nice part fit eh post for me – the sparkle in the water with the bird really had a nice mood – and wonder what the research on the tire will reveal – hm

  3. I like that quirky little house. I could picture myself living there with all my cats. They’d call if the crazy cat lady house! I would enjoy a wooden stove. I have a friend in NJ who has one. I didn’t realize that you boil water to put moisture in the air. We have a fireplace, but it’s rarely used. It just doesn’t get cold enough. I’ve had a fire at Christmas and run the A/C at the same time!

  4. A little idea: instead of the kettle I put on a pan with water, orange and clementine peels and cinnamon sticks. It gives a wonderful scent.

  5. I can tell you where the sun and sand is Jeanette, right here in Perth 🙂 I would gladly swap you some sun for some snow if I could! Lovely images here, especially love the last warm sky shot. Hope all is well with tyres.. bike?

  6. Hello, we have the wood stove and kettle too. It is great at heating the house. I like the cute house. Maybe the bird is a curlew or a whimbrel? They both have long curved bills. Great post and images. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

  8. I don’t know if you did it on purpose, but the colors of this collection wonderfully complement each other and I loved that. The gold of the kettle, the turquoise of the house, the red of the chairs all popped out for me.
Thanks so much for sharing this jesh!

      1. Oooh, that’s why! 🙂 Yes, this is a great pallet of colors! (and I’m thinking in color pallets since manfriend began construction of his apartment so they jumped at me).

  9. Love that wonderful stove and kettle — so warm and cozy. And I still love that eccentric little house. We are getting a lot of rain here in Florida this year. Bill keeps trying to explain how El Nino affects the Atlantic/Gulf Coast as well as the Pacific, but I keep not quite understanding it (now he just rolls his eyes when I ask ;>)!) It isn’t often cold enough for a stove here though, even on rainy days.

  10. Nice selection of photos. The chairs with the red fencing look very charming. That was quite a color combo on that house with it’s white picket fence but I like it. Pretty flowers. Your kettle shot looked very inviting.

  11. That stove is awesome! Would love to pull up beside it to warm myself. I’m not quite ready for beaches yet, but I will be within a month, I’m sure.

  13. What a wonderful glimpse into your life at this point of time. You’ve got it all, from snow to flowers to – finally – some rain in California. That is so good to hear. Great photos, hard to pick a favorite, I think I’ll go for the kettle & stove for sentimental reasons 🙂
    Have a great weekend!

  16. Your photos are gorgeous! Always enjoy my visits here. I tried to comment on the post above also but couldn’t get the title to open up for me. I will try again later but just in case thought those photos were lovely too and especially the one of your kids taken years ago. Also your comments did get through. Thank you so much for stopping by. I was out of the house all day and as I moderate it took me a while to publish. Happy Sunday to you Jesh.

  17. Great photos Jeannette! Your photo and mentioning your wood stove made me think about my granny’s wood stove. My brother and I were always amazed at how much it glowed at night. They sure can keep things nice and cozy.

And I’m glad you got the tired fixed before a blow out. It’s always heart warming when a merchant takes special care of you!
