Huntington Walk

Here I was sitting in what I call the other bedroom printing room. Working on my first draft, since at the other end of the house loud hammering is going on (for two weeks), in repairing the balcony.
I should be getting ready, because 3 of the grandkids would be coming with their parents,

One of the few times they were sleeping, was in the car – probably all tired out, ’cause 3-year old Peach underneath her polka dot blanket got seriously car sick,  which made the trip 8 hours .

*

Instead of sprucing up my house, I looked at the rainforest pics (in a building of the Huntington Library gardens in Pasadena, CA we visited a few years ago) – no sense of responsibility, lol!

Sorry, paper in an extremely humid environment starts to buckle after a while,
even underneath plastic:(

This is the carnivorous plant of the info page above
to stay away from! There were more carnivorous plants, but I forgot to label them:)

AngelClouds_1372

Finished this post after the kiddies were gone,
with angel clouds watching me, I washed a heap of sheets,
towels, and blankets, rearranged my furniture, washed the dishes, picked up an umphteen items they had left,
because now it’s quiet and I can focus.

While I was in graduate training at the time my 3 kids were elementary and junior high school age,
people asked me “How do you do it??”

*

Now I’m beginning to wonder  myself!
I’m exhausted from having those 3 (+ 2)  for only one week

  2. Hello Jesh,

I sure hope you feel more like yourself today. Life can be exhausting. Take it easy today.

    Thanks for sharing.

  3. I have often thought the same thing. But then, NOW I can do all those things I used to wish I had time to do. You know, the things that the supermoms do even when they have little kids at their feet. That was never me.

  4. Young mothers do have a lot of energy perhaps lacking somewhat at the grandmother stage, but at least then you can send them off with Mom and Dad. Though they are precious company. I get to see mine frequently since they live close. I understand your taking time to blog, I have time now for my interests too. I especially like the large pitcher, it looks like the Nepenthes I had once, it was a wonderful plant.

  5. A great series…but I love most of all your processing of the fish pic for MoM. You really made it shimmer and sparkle. Beautiful work. thanks for sharing with Mandarin Orange Monday:)

  6. I hear many grandparents express the same fatigue! I think partly it is going from 0-60 when it’s not part of your everyday. Still, I know it’s a blessing to have them. They are adorable!

  7. I know exactly what you mean. I’m exhausted after my crew leaves and it takes a couple of days to get everything back in place and my routine back.

It is so much fun to see them though!

    Great shots…

  8. You have a couple of brilliant “up” shots in here, which i love. But I have to say, the shot of the the three sleeping grandkids gets my top vote. So cute! Thanks for linking in to this week’s Up Down Challenge.

  9. I love that carnivorous plant! I don’t know how people wait until they are older to have kids. I would never have been able to do it if I had waited, and I only had one.

  10. That’s why we have kids when we’re young! But isn’t it fun to have visits with the grandkids! And isn’t it fun when they leave too! The picture of them in the car is so sweet — my daughter always got car sick when our kids were little (half a century ago!).

Your photos are beautiful — especially the carniverous plant! I’m glad you took time to finish the post before dropping down in exhaustion!

    1. Am glad you’re my blog friend – you always make so much sense! My mind just wondered off to the recent trend to have a first child when people are in their forties – it must not be easy!
I know now why I was so exhausted – I had the beginning of a cold, lol!

  11. The picture with your children sleeping is amazing… They are so cute (when they sleep) !!! (specially on a eight hours road trip !)

You must have quite a beautiful day, in this artificial rainforest, thanks for sharing your souvenirs with us.

    1. ‘Tsuki, am glad they’re my grand children, because I don’t have as much energy as my daughter- who is their mom:) But you’re right – nothing cuter than a sleeping child!

  12. It’s a good thing we don’t have our grand kids more, they are like little human tornadoes. We had five kids within a six year period. It was insanity, but our three grand kids seem much louder and more active. I’m sure you are right that it is all about us having less energy.
